Privacy policy (chenko.app website)
Last updated: [DATE IT GOES LIVE]
This policy explains what happens to your information when you visit chenko.app or sign up to become a founding teacher. The Chenko app will have its own, fuller privacy policy before testing starts, covering children's and families' data.
Who we are
Chenko is made by Sofiia Marchenko, a piano teacher in London, working as a sole trader. Sofiia is responsible for your information (the "data controller").
You can contact me at hello@chenko.app.
What I collect
When you fill in the "Save my place" form, I collect:
- your first name
- your email address
- your country
- roughly how many students you teach
I don't collect anything else through the website. There are no adverts, no tracking tools and no analytics cookies on this website.
Like every website, the company that hosts the site keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP addresses) to keep it running and safe.
Why I use it
I use your details only to:
- reply to you about joining the free test
- send you the set-up pack and information about Chenko's founding teacher programme
- invite you to the founding teachers' Facebook group, if you'd like to join
I use your information because you asked me to contact you (consent), and because it's in our shared interest to run the founding teacher programme (legitimate interests). You can change your mind at any time.
I will never sell your information or share it with advertisers.
Who helps me
A few trusted companies store or send information for me. They may only use it to provide their service:
- Supabase: stores the form answers securely in the EU (Ireland)
- Resend: sends me an email when someone fills in the form
- Gmail (Google): where I read and answer emails
- Netlify: runs the website
Some of these companies are based in the United States. When your information goes outside the UK, it's protected by the safeguards the law requires (such as standard contract clauses).
How long I keep it
I keep your details while the founding teacher programme runs. If you don't become a Chenko teacher, I delete them within 12 months of Chenko's public launch, or sooner if you ask.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- see the information I hold about you
- ask me to correct it
- ask me to delete it
- object to how I use it, or withdraw your consent
Just email hello@chenko.app and I'll reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. I'd be grateful if you'd contact me first, so I can try to put it right.
Changes
If I change this policy, I'll update the date at the top of this page.
